PREVENTION AND MAINTENANCE OF ENAMEL HEALTH IN INDIVIDUALS AT RISK OF EROSION
Tooth erosion remains a little-known condition despite its significant prevalence: according to the AIC (Italian Academy of Conservative Dentistry), the condition affects 40 per cent of Italians*.
In its early stages, it progresses in a way that is difficult for the patient to recognise, which is why it is often only detected once the damage to the enamel is already advanced. For this reason, prevention plays a central role: early identification of risk factors, such as frequent exposure to acidic foods, sport and specific gastrointestinal conditions, is essential for preserving the integrity of the enamel. Similarly, maintaining enamel health requires constant attention in at-risk individuals (for example, those who have undergone remineralisation treatments for dental erosion), with the aim of reducing the vulnerability of dental tissues and ensuring their optimal health in the long term.
